Rijksmuseum Amsterdam 2011

The Rijksmuseum build in 1876 and esigned by Piet Cuyper, has in retrospect a modernist view on how the space is organized. It was one of the first buildings where the steel construction was not disguided, used to give a light and dynamic feeling to the entire building. This spatial sensation disappeared in the course of the twentieth century, due to many additions build in the courtyards. The current renovation will restore the spatial sensation of transparance.
