MARIEKE VAN DIEMEN

Sometimes you can “taste” a word on your tongue and think how strange that word really is. We use that word casually, without paying much attention to it, but actually such a word is an extremely wonderful combination of sounds. In this way Marieke van Diemen tastes the objects around her.

Trained as a sculptor, "the naturalness of showing" and how perception is affected by this has gradually become the core question. Collections, initially created as study material, were the starting point. This resulted in commissions with collections from museums. Photography of museum windows closes the circle with regard to perception in a museum context and takes my work back to autonomous art.
